Obituary:
Ray Harrison, age 86 of Breckenridge, died Saturday, December 12, 2009, at Villa Haven Health & Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, December 14th, at Morehart Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Leo Brooks and Rev. Charles West officiating. Burial will follow in the Breckenridge Cemetery under the direction of Morehart Mortuary. Visitation will be held Sunday evening, December 13th, from 5 to 6 p.m.
Ray Harrison was born on December 10, 1923 in Breckenridge, Texas to parents, Johnnie Ray Harrison and Lola Rose Harris Harrison. He grew up in Breckenridge and attended Breckenridge High School. Ray enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country during WWII. Ray married Ophelia Marie Marr on June 1, 1947 in Lovington, New Mexico. They lived in Big Spring and later moved to Breckenridge in 1963. Following the death of Ophelia, Ray later married Genora Harrison on July 27, 1979. She also preceded him in death. In 1993, Ray retired from Scott Power Trucking, after working most of his life as a truck driver. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. Ray was preceded in death by his parents and his wives, Ophelia and Genora.
Ray is survived by two sons, Johnny Ray Harrison and wife, Sue of Denver, CO and Dannie Ray "Bud" Harrison and wife, Pam of Breckenridge; one daughter, Rosella Humphreys and husband, Delma of Cleburne; six grandchildren, Bonnie Humphreys of Spring, Johnny Ray Harrison Jr. of Wray, CO, Stacey Humphreys of Burleson, Michael Chad Harrison of Breckenridge, Callie Elder of Brighton, CO and Amanda Harrison of Greeley, CO; eight great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
