Pauline Kaufman, 99, of Eaton, died Monday, March 21, 2005, at Greenbriar Nursing Center in Eaton.

Born Sept. 3, 1905, in Wayne County, Ind., she was the daughter of Thollie W. and Elizabeth Druley. She and her husband, Albert, hosted for many years foreign dignitaries and students in their home. She was a member of Campbellstown United Church of Christ.

Mrs. Kaufman was also a member of the Altrusa Club of Richmond, Ind., where she was recipient of the Woman of the Year Award; founder of the Eaton Music and Liberty (Ind.) Music Clubs; a member of the Richmond Music Club; recipient of the Dayton Daily News Woman of the Year Award, and wrote an opera that was performed by the Richmond Symphony.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albert Kaufman, in July 1974; a son, Allen Paul Kaufman; brothers and sister-in-law, Byron and Virginia Druley, and Ivan Druley.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Butch and Linda Kaufman of Poway, Calif., William and Loleida Kaufman, and Joyce Kaufman, all of Eaton; grandchildren, April Thomas and Harold Kaufman of Rudolph, Ohio, Daniel Kaufman of Redwood, Wash., Christina Martinez of San Diego, Calif., Heather Kaufman and Laurel Kaufman of Poway, Calif., Cynthia Kaufman of Stewart, Fla., and Michelle Kaufman of Eaton; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Pauline Druley of Milton, Ind.

Funeral services were Friday, March 25, at Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Funeral Home, Eaton, with the Rev. Edward S. Long officiating. Burial was in Lutherania Cemetery, Richmond, Ind.
