Mr. Batchelor, active in civic affairs in the Beaver Valley, was the senior partner in the firm of Batchelor Brothers, funeral directors and furniture dealers of Monaca. He had been prominent in the business life of Monaca and Rochester 40 years.
Besides his business activities, Mr. Batchelor served two terms as a member of the Legislature and one term in the State Senate. He was president of the Penn-Beaver Hotel Association and past president of the Western Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Assn.
Mr. Batchelor was also a member of Rochester Lodge No. 229, F & A.M.; a past commander of the Beaver Commandery, Knights Templar, of Beaver Falls, and a member of Syria Temple and of the First Baptist Church of Rochester.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Jessie Holmes Batchelor; a son, Elvin Batchelor; three daughters, Mrs. Adrian (Jessie) Walters of Mars, and Frances and Marian Batchelor; a brother, Frank M. Batchelor, and a sister, Mrs. C. C. Augenbaugh, all of Monaca.
