Keith J. Adams, 72, a retired budget comptroller at the Defense Logistics Agency who served as a pilot in the Marine Corps in the Pacific in World War II, died of a heart attack Dec. 27 at Manor Care nursing home in Arlington.

A resident of McLean, Mr. Adams was born in Moscow, Idaho. He graduated from the University of Idaho. After service in the Marine Corps, he returned to the university and received a master's degree in economics. He was an instructor there before moving to the Washington area in 1952.

When he came here, he went to work for the Navy Department in the field of logistics. He later transferred to the Defense Logistics Agency at Cameron Station in Alexandria, and he was budget comptroller when he retired in 1981.

Mr. Adams subsequently worked for J.J. Shipbuilding, the Viff Davis Publishing Co. and the Information Handling Service on defense contracts. He retired for reasons of health in 1990.

He was a past president of the National Capital Area Bowling Association, and he had been a volunteer with the Northern Virginia Bicycle Racing Association and in Little League, Boys Club and Boy Scout activities.

His wife of 50 years, Evelyn L. Adams, died in May.

Survivors include two sons, Michael Keith Adams of Sterling and Steven D. Adams of McLean; and a grandchild.
