Robert Charles Adrian, 78, of Port Huron, died unexpectedly Friday, Jan 10, 1997, at his home while removing snow.
He was born October 3, 1918 in Rogers City, MI, the son of the late Frederick F and Emma Louise Horn Adrian.
He and Sylvia Hinkley were married July 11, 1940 in Yale. They lived in Yale until 1980 and moved Port Huron. They lived in Florida for few years and returned to Port Huron in 1994.
Mr. Adrian was employed at Port Huron Hospital as a security guard, had worked at Mercy Hospital for 15 years in the same capacity and was a former employee of Mueller Brass, his father's harness shop in Imlay City, Yale Woolen Mills, custodian at Yale Public Schools and former school bus driver, Hamill Manufacturing in Yale and Imlay City. He also served for many years with the Brockway Township Fire Department.
Before moving to Port Huron, he had been an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church serving for many years on the Church Council as Treasurer, Superintendent of the Sunday School, and member of the choir. Upon moving to Port Huron he became a member of Holy Redeemer Lutheran Church where he also remained quite active as well as at Abiding Word Lutheran Church in Ocala, Florida.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia; three sons and daughters-in-law: Robert and Karen of Milwaukee, WI; Karl and Sharron of Yale; and Pastor Frederick and Karen of Wyoming, MI; a daughter and son-in-law Louise and Michael Jaskoski of Kingsport, TN; 14 grandchildren, five great-children; sisters Cornelia Theel of Yale and Alice Kegler of Davenport, FL; and sisters-in-law Marjorie Sheehy and Zota Hinkley, both of Port Huron. Also surviving are a large number of nephews, nieces, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Emma Adrian, and his sister Dorothea.
Funeral services will be held at 11am Tuesday at Holy Redeemer Ev Lutheran Church, Port Huron. Pastor Dennis Smith will officiate. Burial will be at Christian Memorial Cemetery, Speaker Township, Sanilac County.
Visiting hours are 5 to 9pm today (Sunday) at Kaatz Funeral Home, Yale, and 7 to 9pm Monday at Holy Redeemer Lutheran Church, Port Huron, and 10am to 11am Tuesday morning until time of services.
Memorial are suggested to either Holy Redeemer Ev Lutheran Church of Port Huron or Emmanuel-Redeemer Ev Lutheran Church, Yale.
