Dr. O. G. Crist, Adams County Coroner, has announced he will not have an inquest into the death of
Rhoten Alexander, 27-year-old used car dealer, killed instantly near Fairfield last Thursday morning.
Miss Betty Ann Myers, 21, Fairfield, a nurse at Mont Alto State Sanatorium, a passenger in Alexander's car is reported in a "satisfactory" condition at Anne E. Warner Hospital in Gettysburg.
She was painfully injured when the car failed to negotiate a left hand curve, struck a tree stump, sheered off a telephone pole, wrecked a billboard and struck a tree before overturning in a field.
An Air Force veteran of World War II, Alexander was born and reared at Charmian, son of Luther P. and Aliene (Fleagle) Alexander. He attended the Monterey School.
While 16, Rhoten enlisted in the Navy. After it was discovered that he was under age, he was discharged. At 18 years he was drafted into the Army and transferred to the Air Force. He was one of the first occupational troops In Japan. After the war he was employed at Hade's Garage in Shady Grove for three years and learned the mechanics trade. For a short time he was employed at Letterkenny Ordnance Depot.
He had been in the used car business for the last five years, operating three lots in the area.
He attended the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Doris (Scott) Alexander, four children: Alesia Dee, Terry Luther, Deborah Lorraine and Larry Rhoten, His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Luther P . Alexander, Charmian; brother , Gordon L., Shady Grove; two sisters, Mrs. Robert Stitley, Hagerstown, Mrs. Raymond Zent, Pottstown, his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Helen Alexander, Pennersville, and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Elizabeth Fleagle, Thurmont, also, survive.
The funeral will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. from the Seventh Day Adventist Church in charge of Rev.
Jonathan Hamrick. Interment will be made in Green Hill Cemetery.
