Beatrice Annabelle McCumbee, age 87, of Berkeley Springs died on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009, at her home.

Born Dec. 14, 1922, in Berkeley Springs, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Daisy Pearl Karns Barker.

She had been a 50-plus year member of Berkeley Springs Presbyterian Church and most recently had attended the Word of Deliverance Church, both in Berkeley Springs. She attended Berkeley Springs High School. She was a member of Alderton Dawson American Legion Post No. 60 Ladies Auxiliary and had been a member of the Christian Women's Club. She worked for many years, with the Morgan County election board and also had worked at The Hotel Washington, the Park View Inn, the Interwoven Hosiery Mill and Morgan County War Memorial Hospital. She had been a homemaker in recent years.

She is survived by one daughter, four sons, one sister, two brothers, 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Franklin McCumbee Sr. in 1989, one sister, Frances Moss, and two brothers, Ralph Barker and Clarence Barker Jr.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, at the Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 95 Union St., Berkeley Springs, with Pastors, Lisa Unger and Shirley Hiles officiating.

Interment will be in Friendship Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 9 p.m. today at the Helsley-Johnson funeral home.
