------THURMONT,MARYLAND - Iris Joann Woods, 65, of Thurmont, died Monday, June 23, 2003, at Frederick (Md.) Memorial Hospital.
Born Feb. 17, 1938, in Cumberland, Md., she was the daughter of the late Austin C. and Linnie Geraldine Powell Godlove.
She was a 1957 graduate of Fort Hill High School, attended Catherman's Business College and completed schooling at Allegany College in the Maryland Certified Food Managers Course.
She was an operations manager in the Frederick County School System.
She was a member of National Beta Sigma Phi, where she received the Order of the Rose, and held offices in Cumberland and Frederick chapters.
She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Edgar A. Woods; two sons, Eric A. Woods of Frederick, and Troy L. Wood of Fairplay; four grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church in Cumberland. Burial will be in Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery, Cumberland.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Stauffer Funeral Home, Thurmont, and at the church Thursday at noon.
Memorial donations may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, Race Street, Cumberland, MD 21502; or to Weller United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 110 Altamont Terrace, Thurmont, MD 21788.
