Merle Robert Morris, 73, of Ritter, died at his home Dec. 15, 2009. A memorial service was held Dec. 22 at St. Katherine's Mission in Dale/Long Creek, with interment at Ritter Cemetery.

Mr. Morris was born on July 24, 1936, in Willamina to Robert and Odetha (McKinley) Morris. He attended Long Creek School and was a rancher his entire life.

On Aug. 3, 1958, he married VIVIAN BURNETTE in Long Creek.

He enjoyed reading the Bible, singing and playing his guitar, riding his horse Blue, hunting, fishing and reloading shells. He was also a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Survivors include his wife Vivian of Ritter; sons, David (Sophia) Morris of Roseburg and Kelly (Robin) Morris of Ritter; daughter, Brenda (David) Kilby of Wikieup, Ariz.; foster sons, Chris (Nicole) Booth of Dillon, Mont. and Darrell White of Beaumont, Calif.; three sisters, Margey Fisher of La Grande, Sue Cooper of Walla Walla, Wash., and Diane Morris of Vancouver, Wash.; 12 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Raymond Alfred Morris.

Arrangements are under the care of Driskill Memorial Chapel, 241 S. Canyon Blvd. John Day, OR 97845.
