Actor. Born Daniel Burton, he started his career in Chicago in the 1930s, on the radio series "Skippy". During World War II he was a member of the US Army Special Services, entertaining troops in the European arena. After the war he appeared in the Broadway road stage production of "Mr. Roberts" before settling in Los Angeles in 1949. With the advent of television in the 1950s, he had successful career as a versatile character performer for the next three decades. He was a regular on numerous series such as "Playhouse 90", "Zane Grey Theater", "Bonanza", "Barnaby Jones", "The F.B.I.", "Ironside", "McCloud", "The Streets of San Francisco", "The Rockford Files", "Battlestar Galactica" and "Quincy M.E.". He was also a voice actor, narrating documentaries, commercials to include Northrup Aviation, Nike, Coca Cola and the voice-over work for Republicans Arnold Schwarzenegger and Elizabeth Dole. Cause of death, heart failure.
