Joyce Jean Roper, 69, of Farmington, Mo., daughter of Alice Alderson Roper and Elmer Roper was born Sept. 17, 1933, at Viola, Ark. She died July 9, 2003, at Farmington. She spent her working years as an assembly line packer for Vi-Jon in St. Louis. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her mother, Alice Roper of Park Hills, Mo.; a niece, Cheryl Trower of Lake St. Louis, Mo.; and a nephew, Keith Roper of St. Louis.
She was preceded in death by her father and two brothers -- Dean Roper and Troy Wayne Roper.
The funeral service was July 12 at Barker Funeral Home Chapel in Salem, Ark., with John Hodges officiating. Interment was in the Mount Calm Cemetery near Salem. Arrangements were under the direction of Barker Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Lee Beaird, Justin Branscum, Steve Barker, Kenneth Roper, Lewis Shrable and Charles Sherman.

Memorials preferred to the American Diabetes Association.
