CHARLES O. CARDWELL was the first born
child of Thomas Perrin and Ellen South
Cardwell. He grew to manhood raised in
one of the most wealthy families of
Breathitt Co., Kentucky. The Cardwells
and Souths owned thousands of acres of
land in this county. Both the Cardwells
and Souths were active in the politics both
locally and state. He practiced law in his
hometown of Jackson, Kentucky. He was elected
Breathitt Co., Judge in 1888. He was elected
Breathitt Co. attorney. By 1900 census he had
moved to Stillwater in Wolfe Co., Kentucky. He
gave up politics by this time and was listed as
a Merchant. Between 1906-1910 he moved his family
to Oklahoma.
