Henry Herman Gausman, son of John and Anna Vannier Gausman, was born February 26, 1875 at Neelyville, Illinois. He was baptized in infancy in Trinity Lutheran Church, Morgan county (sic), Illinois on March 14 of the same year. Six years later, he moved with his parents to Milford, Nebr. where he was confirmed.

On September 21, 1898, he was united in marriage to Anna Krumwiede in St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Milford. This union was blessed with five children. He and his family lived on a farm at Milford for four years and then moved to Hildreth, Nebraska where he continued farming until 1917. Thereafter, the deceased operated grain elevators for 35 years in south east Nebraska and north Kansas towns, living in Chester from 1918 until 1922. He retired from the grain business in October of 1949 at Blue Springs, Nebraska and then came with his wife to Chester to live until his death.

Mr. and Mrs. Gausman were privileged to celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary at Blue Springs on September 21, 1948.

The deceased suddenly became ill on Saturday morning August 26 and was taken to the Belleville Hospital where he remained until his death on Monday morning, September 4th, at 10 A. M. at the age of 75 years, 6 months and 9 days. Death was due to arterial sclerosis with complications. He was a faithful member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Chester.

He leaves to mourn his loss his wife, five children, Homer W. of Omaha, Juluis (sic) F. of Chester, William C. and Edith Osterbuhr both of Neodesha, Kansas, and Berniece McNeice of Culbertson, Nebraska; two brothers, John of Milford and Edward of Ft. Collins, Colorado, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Krumwiede of Kearney, Nebr., 7 grandchildren, one great grandchild and many friends.

Funeral services were held at St. John's Lutheran Church this afternoon with Rev. E.B. Hilst officiating. Interment was in the Chester cemetery (sic).
