Mrs. Lester Roberts Dead
Mrs. Lester Roberts, formerly Miss Bessie May Spangler, of this city, died at her home in Mattoon at 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 4th, following an attack of typhoid pneumonia. She was aged 23 years, 6 months and 23 days. the remains will be brought to Hillsboro for burial and the funeral will be held at the M. E. church about 3 o'clock p.m. on Tuesday, February 6th, 1917.
The deceased was born in Litchfield, her father being Frank Spangler a former resident of Hillsboro. When Bessie was 18 months old, her mother died and she was taken by her aunt Mrs. Charlie Spangler of this city who raised her, giving her all the loving care that a mother could have showered upon her.
The deceased leaves her husband and 2 baby girls, her adopted mother Mrs. Charles Spangler who resided at Mattoon with her and her father, who resides in Litchfield. The remains will be laid to rest at Bluff cemetery.
