Mary E. Ohmart, 87, Laketon, passed away at 11:45 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, 2005 at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
She was born April 9, 1918 in Gilman, Ill. to Clarence and Ida Bernice Keller Goehler. She married Bob E. Ohmart Nov. 30, 1939, and he preceded her in death Dec. 10, 1986.
Ohmart graduated from Laketon High School in 1936, earned her bachelor's degree from Manchester College and her master's degree from St. Francis College in Fort Wayne. She taught school at Laketon Elementary School, retiring after 32 years.
She also loved her family, her dog Susie-Q, teaching children, crafts and sewing. In addition, she was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, North Manchester.
Survivors include a daughter, Jan Fouts and husband Bill, Denver; three grandchildren, Tammy Burnsworth and husband John, Wabash, Jim Fouts and wife LeeAnn, and Susan Kulla, all of Mexico; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister; and a daughter, Michele Dee Ohmart, who passed away at July 8, 1958.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Oct. 15 at Oaklawn Cemetery, 600 Beckley St., North Manchester, with Pastor Ralph Kirkpatrick officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.
