Sarah Rebecca Reynolds was born to James W. Reynolds (1816-1873) and Mary Jane Aills (1852-1904). She was the granddaughter of Thomas Reynolds (1775-1850) and Rebecca (Reynolds)(1779-1860).
She was born on a plantation in Louisiana before the Civil War and after (or possibly toward the end) of the conflict had to move to Texas when the plantation system collapsed during Reconstruction. She married Samuel William Johnson (1852-1904) about 1875.
Together they had 9 children, 8 of whom survived to adulthood. Her children were:
James William "Jim" Johnson(1876-1946)
Joseph E. "Jody" Johnson(1879-1884) who died from surgery after an appendicitis attack
Mollie Mary "Mollie" Johnson Minor(1879-1930)
Robert E. Lee "Bob" Johnson(1882-1964)
Beulah Mae "Beulah" Johnson McCally Senn(1884-1968)
Emma Myra "Em" Johnson Miller(1886-1970)
Mattie "Mat" Johnson Shytles(1891-1971)
Elma Lela "El" Johnson Pickens(1893-1971)
Samuel Minnick "Minnicks" Johnson (1897-1960)

She died during the Spanish flu outbreak in 1918 in Waco, Texas while visiing her son, Jim Johnson She was buried in the Bethel Boz Cemetery, near Maypearl, Ellis County, Texas
