Services for Catherine Mae "Katie" Payton, 78, 1233 White St., who died at her residence at 6:30 am Saturday, will be 1:30 pm Tuesday at Frist Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Sollars officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 pm Monday. She was owner of Payton's Restaurant. Her memberships included Pocohantus Lodge and the Calvary Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband, William C; six daughters, Betty J. Harris, Peru; G. Ione Jackson, Clinton; Ruth Ann Modesitt, West Terre Haute; Mary C. Evol, Barrington, Il; Martha R Williams, Rosedale; Bonnie Fleming, Conda, Idaho; four sons, Henry Eugene, Clinton; Virgil Ray, Centenary, William C. Jr., Elberton Ga; Edward "Butch", Waucando, IL; three half sisters, Themla Ball, Blanford; Myrtle Eastwood and Gladys Bowers, both of Clinton; 32 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
