Mr. Crawford was one of two members of Grant's old regiment. He died at his daughter's (Mrs Armstrong)home. He died of a stroke of apoplexy. He was born in Terre Haute. His family settled seven miles northwest of Blue Mound. He lived in Dixon, IL before coming to Decatur. He fought during the Civil War in Texas, was wounded in Murphysboro, and spent 7 mos in Andersonville Prison. He was survived by three daughters, Mrs. Grindol of St. Louis, Mrs. Davidson of Blue Mound, and Mrs. Armstrong. His wife died in Dec. 1901.

The funeral of David Crawford was held Thursday afternoon at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. H. F. Armstrong, 983 W. Main St. It was largely attended. short and simple services were held at the house and at the Hall cemetery near Blue Mound, where interment took place. The body was taken from Decatur on the Wabash at 2:25. About thirty-five people accompanied the body to Blue Mound. The pallbearers were six nephews. Robert, John and Charles Crawford of Blue Mound. Ora Crawford of Sadorus, Bruce Fulk of Mr. Auburn and David Black of Decatur.
