Charles E. (Stump) Beamer, age 85, formerly of Aspers, died Monday, Dec. 21, 2009, at Golden Living in Gettysburg. Charles was born Sept. 4, 1924 in Menallen Township, Adams County, a son of the late Wilbert H. Beamer and the late Mary E. (Kuhn) McCauslin.
Charles was employed by PPG Industries for 14 years before his retirement in 1986. He was a member of Shoshonean Gun Club, Upper Adams Fish and Game, Buchanan Valley Gun Club, Ira E. Lady American Legion Post 262 Biglerville, a life member of North American Hunting Club, and a life member of Bendersville Fire Company. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn Beamer, who died in 1999
He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Grace Black, Beulah Kime and Mazie Beamer; two brothers, Guy Beamer and Donald Beamer; two half-brothers, James and William McCauslin; and two half-sisters, Doretta McCauslin and Tressie Rhoads.
He is survived by his wife, Betty (Blocher) Bream-Beamer, to whom he was married for six years; one stepdaughter, Vita D. Miller of Hanover; and one step-son, Vertis M. Bream of Aspers; one sister, Marvel Drybread of Biglerville; one brother, Paul Beamer of Biglerville; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home Inc., 111 S. Main St., Bendersville, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 23. Funeral services will be at Dugan Funeral Home Inc. at 2 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 24, with the Rev. James R. Speelman officiating.
Interment will be in Wenksville Cemetery.
