Shannon Nikolaus Curtis passed away at Hospice of the Valley in Tempe, Arizona on Saturday, Secember 12, 2009 after a long illness. He was born in Yuma on December 28, 1965.

Shannon completed his elementary schooling in Yuma and graduated from Yuma High School in 1983. He received his eagle scout award and filled a two year mission in North Tokyo, Japan for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Shannon loved karate, and riding at the dunes with family and friends. While growing up, Shannon helped his family build their mud adobe home and he worked fabricating wrought iron after school hours for the Iron Scroll and helped build the Ironwood Golf Course. He later owned and ran his powder coating business in Mesa, Arizona. Shannon married Subrina Keene in the LDS Temple in 1990 and two children.

Shannon is survived by his son Nikolaus Armon Curtis; daughter Emily Fay Curtis; his mother Loella Hemming; stepfather Garth Hemming; brothers, Scott E. Curtis, Gary Dean Curtis and Kelly Neil Curtis.

Funeral was held at Bunker University Chaple in Mesa, Arizona on Friday, December 18, 2009 at 11:30a.m. with a burial in Yuma at the Desert Lawn Memorial Park on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at 11:00a.m.
