Harlen R. Brown, 70, of Evans departed this life Dec. 18, 2009, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg, after an extended illness.
Born April 7, 1939, in Boone County, he was a son of the late Albert and Verlie Brown. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Dottie; infant son, Michael; sister, Fairlena; and brothers, Hersie and Harold Brown.

Harlen was a faithful member of Sandyville Church of Christ. He was a lifelong resident of Boone and Jackson counties. He was a former coal miner and loved hunting and fishing.

He is survived by a son, Albert and his wife, Candy; daughters, Martha Jefferson and husband, Mickey, Mary Frasher and husband, Bill, Melinda Martin and companion, Ricky Gunter, and Verlie and companion, Roy Holliday; grandchildren, Austin and Jamie Hart, James Brown, Summer Moore, Stacie Walls Regina Smith, Heather Martin and Tamera Gunter; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Lorena Evans Gore, Loretta Haddad and husband, Larry, Charlotte Roe and husband, Herman Roe Jr., and Patricia Klapper and husband, Howard; sister-in-law, Nancy Brown; aunt, Vergie Brown of Naomi; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, at Handley Funeral Home, Danville, with Minister Rodney Nulph officiating. Burial will follow in Mid-Ferrell Cemetery, Bandytown.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
