Rev. Rensselaer Winchell, 84, died suddenly Saturday night at the home of his son, J.E. Winchell on Harrison avenue. For a number of years past he had been in poor health. He was born in West Springfield and there grew up to manhood. While still a young man he moved with his father and family to Wisconsin. Here for a time he lived the life common to pioneers in the Western states. He was educated for the Congregational ministry being [blan]Andover seminary. Early in his clerical life his health failed and he was obliged to retire. For a number of years he has made his home with his son in this city. His wife died a number of years ago. He leaves besides his son, J.E. Winchell of this city, secretary of the Florence manufacturing company, a son Nathaniel P of Boston, and two daughters Mrs. Mary Jenkins of Melrose and Miss F. Mabel Winchell librarian of the Manchester, N.H. city library. The funeral was held this afternoon at the home of J.E. Winchell, 81 Harrison avenue. Prof. Wood of Smith college officiated. Burial was in Spring Grove cemetery, Florence.
