Mr. John Charles Huizenga, 89, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Monday, August 31, 2015. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 67 years, Muriel (Hall) Huizenga; sons, Gary (Lavonne) Huizenga, Larry (Elaine) Huizenga, Randy (Pat) Huizenga, and Chuck (Brenda) Huizenga; 11 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 2 step-great grandchildren; and sister, Mae (Don) Schreur. John was born at home in Corinth, MI to Gerrit and Jennie Huizenga. Following his retirement from DTE/Michcon, John and Muriel volunteered generously for many years with Wycliffe Bible Translators, Cran-Hill Ranch, and SOWERS Ministry. He was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Bonnie Huizenga; and sister and brother, Emma Jerene Burgess, and Willard Huizenga. Memorial services will be held Thursday, 12 PM at Corinth Reformed Church, 129 100th St. SW, Byron Center. Interment will be at Winchester Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet his family Wednesday from 6-8:30 PM at the Cook Funeral Home, Byron Center Chapel, 2067 84th St. SW, Byron Center, and Thursday from 11 AM until the time of his service at church. His family welcomes memories and messages in their guest book online at www.cookcares.com. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of John may be made in care of Pray America, www.prayamerica.org, to assist with his granddaughter, Tammy Huizenga, and her mission endeavor.
