Dade City Banner November 17, 1920
Plead Wilson
In these days the passing of one who wore the gray in the sixties is a matter of comment.
On the morning of November 15, 1920, Mr. Plead Wilson passed to his reward. For several months he had been in ill health and was confined to his bed some weeks prior to his death.
He was born in Alabama, June 11, 1846 and came to Florida in 1860. He was soon called into the service of the Confederacy, where he served as a soldier doing "home guard duty" not being old enough to go to the front. When he mustered out of service he took up a "homestead" in what is now Dade City. It comprised the land on which the Presbyterian church now stands and he gave the land to the town upon which the school buildings are located.
One March 23, 1870 he was married to Miss Kate McNeill of Tampa, who was his helpful companion until 1879 when she was taken, leaving his with some small children. In 1902 he was married to Miss Zadie Dickerson who survives him. He is also survived by four sons and five daughters. One daughter is in Texas, one son in Jacksonville and the others in Tampa and Dade City.
As does every one he has lived his life and will be remembered by what he has done. In young manhood he united with a Baptist church and was a member of the Dade City Baptist church at his death. In life his burdens were many but we trust that he has passed into a place where burdens, cares and sorrows are no more.
His remains were interred in the Dade City cemetery, his pastor conducting the funeral services.
