OLD RESIDENT OF JASPER CO. DIES AT SULLY


Isaac Dunick was born in Zeeland, Holland, Nov. 21, 1841. He came with his parents to America in 1847. His mother died in St. Louis after which his father came to Marion county, Iowa, six miles northwest of Pella, Iowa, where Isaac grew to manhood.


In 1867 he was united in marriage to Annie De Jong, daughter of Cornelis De Jong, and to this union were born thirteen children, all of whom survive him.


In 1873 he moved to Lynn Grove, Jasper county, where he resided until the time of his death which occurred July 16th, 1916 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. William Miller.


His health had been failing for over a year and in March the doctor pronounced his disease cancer of the liver.


He leaves to mourn their loss thirteen children, twenty-seven grandchildren, two brothers, three half brothers and three half sisters and many friends.


All except four of the children were present at the funeral. They are Arnout, of Newton; Mrs. Antonia Sterrenburg of Pella, Miss Clara, of Mt. Pleasant, Mrs. Cornelia Steenhoek, of Grinnell, Peter of Taintor; Cornelium of Alton, Johannes of Davenport; Mrs. Nellie Rafferty, of Columbia; Mrs. Bertha Van Doneslar of Mt. Pleasant, Mrs. Sarah Baarda of Newton, Mrs. Emma Miller of Sully; Carl of Taintor and Mrs. Rosa Lamphier of Newton.


The funeral services were conducted from the M. E. church at Sully, Iowa, by Rev. Edmund Renaud. Interment was made at Dairy Grove cemetery. ~ The Newton Daily News, July 22, 1916.
