John W. Brownson. He was born in Gainesville, Wyoming County, NY in 1842. His father, John W. Brownson, emigrated to Wisconsin and settled in the town of Sharon, in the spring of 1852. The parents of Mr. Brownson had three children, Ellen, John W., and Charles A.

He was a member of the form of Wolf and Brownson of Sharon, WI.

Mr. Brownson served in Company C, 13th Regiment, Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry – Union Army from 14 Sep 1861 until 24 Nov 1865. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.

In 1882, he served as a member of WI Assembly from Sharon.

From 1892-1896, he served as member of the County Board.

From 1897-1912, he served as a grand juror in Walworth County.

1900 – The federal census listed him as a Dry goods dealer.

He and his wife had 2 children, Allen, born on 14 May 1873 and Laura, born on 5 Dec 1878.
