William C. Annis, 90, of North Liberty, Ind., passed away after an extended illness at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, at Miller's Merry Manor in Walkerton, Ind. He retired in 1970 after 50 years with the Reliable Dairy in South Bend, IN. He was born in South Bend on Feb. 6, 1908, and lived here a lifetime.
He was married on April 14, 1929, to Esther L. Whitmer, who passed away on Jan. 20, 1998. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Joan Annis in 1943; a great- grandson, Brandon Martin in 1990; three sisters, Grace Garrett, Elsie Fish and Thelma McCombs; and by a stepbrother, Charles Rock.
He is survived by four daughters, Nancy Niespodziany and Linda Paul, both of North Liberty, Susan Leonard of Niles, Mich., and Marilyn Kuspa of Mishawaka, Ind.; two sons, Dwight of North Liberty and Michael of Walkerton; and by 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Mr. Annis was a member of UAW Local 364 and was a former member of the Greene Township Advisory Board.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 22, at the North Liberty Church of Christ, officiated by Charles Richmond, pastor. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at
the A.M. Manuel Funeral Home in North Liberty. Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph County Hospice or to the Greene Township Lions Club.
