Mr. Hutson was a Staff Sgt. in World War II, serving in Africa, Italy, and France. He received combat wounds at Anzio and in France, earning him the Purple Heart, Oak Leaf Cluster, and the Presidential Citation.

Upon discharge from the Army, he became a self-employed trucker, retiring in 1985.

He enjoyed going to auctions, collecting antique lamps, and had a love for animals.

He was a member of the Greenwood VFW Post 7478, Purple Heart Unit 1787, Disabled American Veterans, Harrington Moose Charter Member, and a friend of Asbury United Methodist Church, Harrington.
