She passed away at the age of eighty-nine on December 14, 2009 at The Beehive House in West Jordan, where she had been a patient for eleven months.
She married Jay G. Thompson on October 17, 1938. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. They resided in Midvale and Cottonwood Heights until they moved to St. George in 1976. Beth returned to Midvale in 1989, where she lived until January 2009.
She was an accomplished golfer, and served a term as President of the Bloomington Women's Golf Association. Beth belonged to a "500" club with many of her friends for over sixty years. She also belonged to the Midvale Ladies Community Club. Along with her husband, she ran several businesses. She always had a project. She would rather wear out, than rust out.
Mom is survived by her three children, Doug Thompson, Kathy Thompson, and Lori Bowcutt; eight grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Margaret Jensen, of Tremonton, UT.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 26, 2009 at 12:00 p.m. in the LDS Church, 1208 West 12410 South, Riverton, Utah, with a viewing two hours prior.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 12:00 p.m. in the St. George City Cemetery, St. George, UT.
