Donald P. Sutton, 68, Ashville, died Saturday at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus.
He was born in Ashville, a son of the late Harvey and Maude (Ivory) Sutton.
Surviving are four children: Paula Cooper of Gallitzin, Vicki Imler of Stuarts Draft, Va., Jeannie Frame of Altoona and Steven Frame of Clearwater, Fla.; four grandchildren: Ashley, Nicholas, Amanda and Craig; a great-grandson, Jordan; six siblings: Ellen Brady of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Ollie Watkins of Bordentown, N.J., Dorothy Manfredi of Westerly, R.I., Rita Funicelli of Dean, Bill Sutton of West Windsor, N.J., and Margie Cuomo of Dysart; three sisters-in-law: Marge Ivory of Ashville, Gertrude Sutton of Ashville and Janie Sutton of Carrolltown; a brother-in-law, Joseph Ruane of Arlington, Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two infant brothers: Bobby and John; and six siblings: Alvin Ivory, Leonard Sutton, Marie Ruane, Blair Sutton, Fredrick Sutton and Leroy Sutton.
Donald worked as a truck driver for 20 years and retired in 1991 from McQuaide Trucking, Johnstown. He was a social member of Loretto American Legion, Ashville VFW, Sankertown VFW and Duncansville VFW. He was also a member of Mountain Top Sportsmen, Coupon.
Don enjoyed shooting pool and hunting.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009, at the Gibbons Funeral Home, Ashville. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Ashville, with the Rev. Sean Code as celebrant.
Committal will be at St. Thomas Cemetery.
