MEADE COUNTY MESSENGER OBITUARY - 2006
Bennie David "Ben" Gilkey, 59, Vine Grove, died, Aug. 11, 2006, at Hardin Memorial Hospital, Elizabethtown. He was employed with Arch Chemical in Brandenburg for 37 years and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bennie and Della Gilkey; a sister, Barbara Sheroan; and brother, Johnnie Gilkey. Mr. Gilkey is survived by daughter, Nichole Gilkey, Jeffersonville, Ind.; a son, Brandon Gilkey, Vine Grove; three sisters,Theresa Fulkerson, Cox's Creek, and Linda Borders and Martha Fogle, both of Bardstown; two brothers, Billy Gilkey and Keith Gilkey, both of Bardstown; and the mother of his children, Sharon Royalty. Funeral services will be held Aug. 15 at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Nelson-Edelen-Bennett Funeral Home, Vine Grove, with Ben Sheroan officiating. Burial will be in the Bardstown City Cemetery with military honors. Friends may call at the funeral home Aug. 14, 4-8 p.m., and after 9 a.m. Aug. 15.
