Karen died in a Duluth hospital. She was born in Superior and grew up in Maple, Wisconsin where she was a graduate of Northwestern High School. She had lived in Duluth for 12 years. Se was a government employee at the Duluth Air Force Base from 1961 to 1971 and had also been manager of the Douglas County Selective Service Board. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. She was survived by her husband; two daughters (Brenda & Bridget); her mother, May Jarvinen of Maple; a brother, Richard Jarvinen (Mpls); and a sister, Carol (Peter) Coda of Escanaba, Michigan.
