W. J. BOONE, 82, RETIRED NEW HAVEN FARMER, DIES - William J. Boone, 82, retired farmer of the New Haven community, died Friday, March 21, at 6:15 p.m. at St. Joseph Infirmary, Louisville, where he had been a patient about a week, after being transferred there from Flaget Hospital here. Mr. Boone retired from active farming ten years ago and moved to New Haven. His wife, the former Josephine Greenwell, died in 1965. After her death, he lived alone until two months ago, when he became ill and then moved to the home of his son, Joe Bill Boone, and Mrs. Boone in New Haven. He and Mrs. Boone observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1959. He leaves a family of 12 children, ten daughters and two sons. Surviving daughters, Mrs. Hugh Johnson and Mrs. John L. Newcomb, Bardstown; Sister Aloise, Maple Mount, Ky., Sister Regina, Whitesville, Ky.; and Sister Joseph Angela, Brescia College, Owensboro, all Ursuline Sisters; Mrs. Errol P. Johnson, II, Mrs. Edward Hagan, Mrs. Pat Thompson, all of New Haven; Mrs. Frank Keene, Louisville; Mrs. Joseph Dworzan, Orange, Calif.; sons, Fred Boone, Louisville; and Joe Bill Boone, of New Haven; three brothers, Frank and Bernard Boone, of Louisville; and Walter Boone, Salinas, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Robert Sims, of Akron, Ohio; and Miss Elizabeth Boone, New Haven; 56 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 24, with a Requiem Mass at St. Catherine Church, New Haven, with Rev. George Greenwell, Louisville, chief celebrant, and Rev. Paul Russell, pastor of St. Catherine's, as con-celebrant. Other priests attending were Father Charles R. Bowling, Bowling Green, Kentucky; Father Fields and Father Fisher, Whitesville; Father Bernard Hartlage, Lebanon Junction. Several Ursuline Sisters from Mt. St. Joseph, Whitesville and Brescia College, Owensboro, also attended the funeral. Interment was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Mike Johnson, Jimmy Hagan, Joe Boone, Buddy Lee, Jack Newcomb, and Fred D. Boone, all grandsons and grandsons-in-law. The body was at the Greenwell Funeral Home at New Haven, where prayers were offered Sunday afternoon at five o'clock.
