M. L. Spencer, 86, Dies, Rites Set. Home at Meridianville Scene of Funeral set Thursday at 2 o’clock. Mitchell Lafayette Spencer, 86, of Meridianville, died at the Huntsville hospital yesterday at 3:30 p.m. following a short illness. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. from the residence at Meridianville. The Revs. A. L. Fanning and C. E. Bishop will officiate. Interment will be in Mulberry cemetery at Mulberry, Tenn., with Laughlin-Service funeral home directing. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Maude Embrey Spencer of Meridianville; three daughters, Mrs. J. Z. Owens of Mulberry, Tenn., Mrs. W. L. Davis of Auburn, Ala., and Mrs. John A. Gubio, of Little Rock, Ark.; five sons, Clayton C. Spencer and Vernon L. Spencer of Meridianville, Joe E. Spencer of Franklin, Tenn., William M. Spencer of Mulberry, Tenn.; and Gilbert O. Spencer, Vernon, Ala. 24 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, four brothers and two sisters. Mr. Spencer was a member of the Arbor Primitive Baptist church of Farris Creek, Tenn. Pallbearers will be Mitchell Owens, Paul Spencer, John Parks Spencer, Joe Darwin Spencer, Clayton M. Spencer, Roy Spencer, Gilbert O. Spencer Jr., Dean Owens.
