Ernest L. Kelly, 85, of Salina, died Wedesday, Jan. 7, 2009. He was born Dec. 17, 1923, in Oklahoma City, the son of Edward Sylvester Kelly and Ella Fredia Dubach Kelly. He was a Salina resident since 1963. Ernest was a U.S. Air Force veteran of WWII and the Korean War, retiring with the rank of master sergeant. He worked for Sears as a electronics tech from 1963 until 1986.

He belonged to Salina Masonic Lodge 60 and Isis Shrine Temple and was an Isis LOH past commander and member of OES 244, KC.MO. He was a member and past commander of Salina VFW Post 1432 and a member of American Legion Post 62 and Eagles Aerie 765, the National Rifle Association, CKARC Radio Club and Quivera Gun Club, all of Salina.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Zita, in 1994.

He is survived by his sister, Amy Bowlin, of Williamsburg; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Sarah Dickey, of Salina.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina. Burial, with Masonic Rites and Military Honors presented by Salina VFW Post 1432, will follow in Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina. Friends may call at the mortuary from noon until 8 p.m. today, Jan. 8. Memorials are suggested to the Shrine Children's Hospitals of North America.
