George H. Foulds, one of Washington Townships foremost citizens died at his home at high noon last Sunday, Nov. 5, 1911. He had been in bad health for sometime and suffered great pain. He was 67 years old at the time of his death. He was married to Miss Mary Pool, daughter of the late Monroe and Abbie Pool in 1872. By this union there were eleven children born, one dying in infancy. He leaves to mourn his loss the faithful wife, who was his helpmate and wise counselor for nearly 40 years, and the 10 children. He professed religion a short time before he died. All grieve that they may see his face no more on earth, yet we sorrow not as those without hope. The writer knows his worth as a man. We were confined together in Rock Island Military prison at the closing end of the war for seven months. He never failed to do right and always bore in quietness the burdens imposed upon him. Funeral services were conducted at the home by Rev. Downing at 2 p.m. Nov. 7th. The body was then taken to Elmwood cemetery and laid to rest. The family has the sympathy of the entire community in their sad bereavement.
