Son of John McCaslin (1757-1828) and Sarah (Knowles) McCaslin (1762-1820). Alexander first married Thankful Knowles (1789-1814), 01 Dec 1809. Together they had a daughter, Delilah (1809-abt1909), who married Shaw Nash (1805-1857). When Thankful died in 1814, the widowed Alexander then married her sister Abigail W (1787-1873), they married 18 Jan 1816 in Addison. Together they had 4 children, Stephen Jones McCaslin, Thankful McCaslin, Stephen James Monroe McCaslin and Elijah H McCaslin.
