Son of Ackley and Mary Beman of Delta, Keokuk Co., Iowa, Mr. Beman served two terms in the state legislature and several years on the Keokuk county board of supervisors. He was a Methodist and member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Masonic lodge. He married four times to Ida Hawk, Maizie Wharton, Maude Hayes Heninger (who all preceded him in death) and Grace Hartet (who survived him). Mr. Beman was the father of one daughter and two sons.
