Deceased Name: Gerald K. Aikens

BERLIN -- Gerald K. Aikens, 65, of 330 Burgess St., died May 9, 2005, at Androscoggin Valley Hospital.


He was born in Berlin, Oct. 10, 1939, the son of Clifford and Irene (Davis) Aikens and was a lifelong resident.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves from 1956 to 1962.

Before his retirement, Mr. Aikens was employed by Union Local 490 I.B.E.W. as business agent.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and his camp in Dummer. He was an avid NASCAR fan.

Mr. Aikens was a member of St. Barnabas Church.

Members of the family include his wife of 45 years, Beverly (Fournier) Aikens of Berlin; two sons, Douglass Aikens of Enosburg, Vt., and Dennis Aikens of Berlin; two grandsons; two brothers, Roland Aikens of South Lake, Texas, and Robert Aikens of Nashua; one sister, Shirley Tanguay of Berlin; nieces, nephews and cousins.

SERVICES: Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial will be in New City Cemetery.

Donations in his memory may be made to Androscoggin Valley Hospital Emergency Department, 59 Page Hill Road, Berlin, 03570 or to a charity of one's choice.
