Genevieve M. Watson, 84, of Ashland, died Thursday evening, December 17, 2009 at Samaritan Regional Health System. She was born in Antioch, Ohio on February 3, 1925 to the late Lawrence and Bertha Carpenter Jackson. She has been a resident of the Ashland area since 1943. She was a former Baker at Archway Cookies and had even appeared as the cookie lady in one of the Archway commercials years ago. She was also a loving homemaker.
She was a member of the Ashland Church of Christ and the Bears Ministry at the church, where they make stuffed bears to be given to the children at the emergency room of Samaritan Hospital. She was also an avid quilter.
She was married to Leroy (Pete) Watson on July 21, 1944 who preceded her in death on August 17, 1995. She is survived by one daughter, Mary Ann (Darrell) Arnold of Polk; 5 sons, Anthony (Shirley) Watson of Ashland; Alfred Watson of Mansfield; David Watson of GA; Clifford (Sandra) Watson of New London; Wayne Watson of Baltimore, MD; 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Geneva Miller of Canton; Olive Straquadine of Columbus; Dorcas Campbell of Byesville; and 4 brothers, Richard Jackson of Ashland; Clarence Jackson of Greenwich; Lawrence Jackson of Cambridge and Walter Jackson of Newcomerstown, OH. .
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Rosetta McFerrin and one brother, Charles Jackson.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Denbow-Primm-Kemery Funeral Home with Don Highman officiating. Burial will be in the Ashland County Memorial Park. Friends may call on Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Denbow-Primm-Kemery Funeral Home. The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the Ashland Church of Christ, 1185 Co.
