ONAWA, Iowa -- Odessa M. Jones, 91, of Onawa died Tuesday, April 23, 2002, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa.
Services were 1 p.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Layton officiating. Burial was in Onawa City Cemetery.
Mrs. Jones was born Feb. 28, 1911, in Miller, S.D., the daughter of Cyrus K. and Martha M. (Blowers) Hutcheson. She attended and graduated from high school. She married Orville Rowland in 1939. He died Sept. 24, 1956. She then married Ralph Jones on Feb. 11, 1959, in Texarkana, Ark. She moved to Onawa in 1959, and worked for many years at the Moon Variety Store.
She was a member of United Methodist Church and was involved in many church activities. She was a longtime member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed crocheting, crafts, baking and gardening.
Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Alene and Robert Core of Greenbriar, Ark.; a stepson and his wife, Earl and Deanie Rowland of Newcastle, Neb.; six grandchildren, Kathy Schultz of Greenbriar, Renee Hudson and her husband, Robert of Virginia Beach, Va., Steve Wagner of Ventura, Calif., Marc Rowland and his wife, Sarah of St. Joseph, Mich., Sara Budwell and her husband, Bernie of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Nancy Nelson and her husband, Michael of Albuquerque, N.M.; four stepgrandchildren, Janet Knifel and her husband, Harry, Becky Wiggs and her husband, Russ, Craig Rowland and his wife, Mary, and Cheryl Drahem; 27 great-stepgrandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; a stepdaughter-in-law, Helen Rowland of Sioux City; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
