Leo Taylor went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2009.
Funeral: 11 a.m. Saturday at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel, 7301 E. Lancaster Ave., Fort Worth. Interment: 2 p.m. Saturday in Dido Cemetery. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel.
Leo was born Jan. 27, 1933, in Nevada. He served in the Navy and was discharged in 1953 after serving in the Korean War. He owned and operated Irving School of Welding before moving to Newark for 24 years.
He was the 100th heart recipient at St. Paul Heart & Lung Center in 1992 and lived 17 years because of a generous organ donor. Because of this blessing, he lived to enjoy his six grandchildren. To share a miracle go to www.donatelifetexas.org.
After his Lord, he loved being with his family.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Myrtle and William Taylor; sisters, Susan McIlroy, Mildred Whitehead, Dorothy Kenney and Inez Taylor; and brother, Roland Taylor.
Survivors: Wife of 52 years, Peggy Taylor; daughters, Patricia Pitts and Leslie Hipp; grandchildren, Ronnie and Matthew Pitts, Miranda and Spencer Hipp; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Rance, Reece, Abigail, Kyle Pitts and Clayson Richards; and brothers, Glen Taylor of Duncan, Okla., and Joe Taylor of Irving. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle Leo.
