Sarah was the eldest child of Alston Bailey and Jane C. (Nichols) Bailey.

Her first husband was William Neal Moses (1838-1863), they were married November 11, 1858.

After William's death, she married James Gillam Davenport (1818-1906). She was James' Third Wife.
