Leroy Clem, of Batesville, died Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at the age of 80 years, 11 months and 4 days.

Born in Grubbs, Arkansas, he was the son of Ernest and Pearl (Blevins) Clem.

He graduated from Cave City High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran having served in the Korean Conflict. After his service in the Navy, he went to barber school in Little Rock and then worked as a barber in the Batesville area for over 50 years. He was a member of the Central Avenue Church of Christ and was also a Church of Christ minister preaching all over northeast Arkansas.

Leroy is survived by his wife, Carrie Sue (Jeffrey) Clem of Batesville; a son, Steven Lee Clem of Dallas, Texas; a granddaughter, Samantha Marie Clem, also of Dallas; a brother, Carl Clem of Bradford; and several nieces and nephews.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna Marie (Taylor) Clem; an infant son, Timothy Allen Clem and one sister, Margaret Jean Duncan.

Pallbearers will be Phil Couch, Bobby Smithee, Roy Wilson, Nick Caldwell, Raymond Keller, Bill Kimmer, and Donald Boles.

Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Bob Slaughter, Floyd Denton, Virgil Hix, Ralph Wallis, Kenny Tosh and Harold Wallis.

Burial will follow the services at the Cave City Cemetery.
