Jennetta Irene (Van Wyk) Antle was born on Tuesday; August 3, 1920 at rural Sully; Jasper County, Iowa. She was the daughter of: Guysbert and Gertrude (Van Arkel) Van Wyk. Jennetta went to grade school at Sully Christian School. She married Max W. Antle on November 14, 1939. They farmed west of Killduff until 1981 when they retired and moved to Sully. Her husband preceded her in death on May 17, 2001. A tornado ripped through their farm home on Sunday afternoon, September 7, 1941. Jennetta remembered it well and shared stories about their survival. Jennetta was a member of the Newton Christian Reformed Church. As her health declined, she enjoyed taped ministry in order to stay involved.
As Jennetta's health failed, she was lovingly cared for by Lisa Groenenboom and Jennetta's family. A very kind person, Jennetta enjoyed crocheting and being close to family and friends. One of her favorite memories was going to the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Jennetta Irene (Van Wyk) Antle, age 87, passed away on at her home in Sully on Saturday morning; August 2, 2008. Those left to mourn her passing are: Her daughter and her husband: Barb and Darrel Jansen of Sully; her son: Wes Antle and Carolyn Ball of Newton; four grandchildren and their spouses: Tia (Felix) Torres, Tim (Brenda) Jansen, Bob (Amy) Antle, and Carrie (Todd) Gilbert; nine great-grandchildren: Tony (Misty) Torres, Jennifer Torres, Brooke Jansen, Baylee Jansen, Tyson Jansen, Dusti Antle, Jarret Antle, Chelsea Alter, and Taylor Alter; and two great-great-grandchildren: Destiny Torres and Matt Torres. She is survived by one brother: David (Edith) Van Wyk of Grinnell; two sisters: Mary Grace (Henry) Terlouw of Grinnell and FayeOla (Gerrit) Stouwie of Pella; and sisters-in-law: Tunnet Van Wyk of Otley and Nellie Van Wyk of Pella. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband; five brothers: Will G., Cornie, Henry G., Bert, and Marion: and five sisters: Carrie (Braaksma), Mattie (DeHoedt), Minnie (Ver Steegt), Gertie (Ver Steegt), and Alenis (Brush). May they rest in peace. Visitation will be from: 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday; August 5, 2008 and the family will be present 5:00-7:00 P.M. at the Garden Chapel Funeral Home in
Pella, Iowa. Funeral services will begin at: 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday; August 6, 2008 at the
Newton Christian Reformed Church in Newton, Iowa. Interment will be at the Sully Cemetery also in Sully, Iowa. Memorials may be given to Hospice of Pella and the Newton Christian Reformed Church. The Pella Garden Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
