Kokomo Daily Tribune - Tuesday, January 9, 1917:

Matt O'Donnell, age 36 years, a former Kokomo man, died at the hospital in Springfield, Illinois after a four days' illness with pneumonia on Saturday night. The remains arrived in Kokomo this morning. Funeral services will be held at St. Patrick's Church of which he was a faithful member ono Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock. Interment will be made in Crown Point Cemetery.

Mr. O'Donnell was well known around Kokomo. He made a large circle of staunch friends through his big heartedness and jovial disposition, who will not soon forget him. Born in this city, he lived here until about ten years ago. During that time, he worked for the Kokomo Rubber Company seven years. Ten years ago, he went to Akron, Ohio, where he became employed by a rubber company there. While living in Akron, he met Miss Sattie Barber, a woman with whom he was united in marriage threes ago this coming May. A year later, she died. Following the death of his wife, he went to Springfield where he spent the remainder of his life.

Surviving are the father, Thomas O'Donnell, living ten miles west of Kokomo in Ervin Township; three brothers, Patrick, living in Ervin Township; Thomas of Bar Harbor, Ohio; and William of this city; and a sister, Mrs. Agnes McDonald of Richmond.
