Korean War Veteran. Master Sergeant in the US Army. He served with the 40th Infantry Division in Korea in 1952. Awarded the Silver Star, and the Bronze Star, among numerous other decorations for his service in the Korean War.

Wayne Halwin Stuart, age 80,
died December 3, 2009 at 8 p.m., in
Yakima, WA. He sucombed to Lung
Cancer Mesothelioma. He had been
ill four years.
Wayne was born in December,
1928, on the Rosebud Sioux Indian
Reservation in South Dakota.
Wayne and his family lived in
Maple Valley for 25 years. Wayne
retired from the Maple Valley Post
Office in 1984. At that time there
were only three mailmen who
served Maple Valley. He was a Mail
Carrier for the U.S. Postal Service
from 1966 to 1995.
Wayne and his wife Marie were
married 58 years.
Wayne was a Master Sergeant
in the United States Army. He
served with the 40th Infantry Division
Korea in 1952. During active duty
Wayne received the Silver Star,
Korean Service Medal with one
Bronze Service Star, and the United
Nations Service Medal. He was a
true American hero.
Wayne joined the US Army in
1951 and received an Honorable
Discharge in 1956. He was a
member of the Disabled American
Veterans
Wayne enjoyed all sports. He
played golf, tennis, pickle ball, and
was an avid billiards player. He
bicycled, jogged and enjoyed a
good practical joke.
Survivors include his wife of
58 years, Marie Stuart; his son Bo
Stuart of Federal Way; his daughter
Velda Gilham of Kent; his brother
Donald Stuart of Yakima; his sister
Betty Lou Hillis of Enumclaw;
granddaughter Liz Gilham of Kent;
grandson Troy Whiting of Mesa,
AZ; and great-granddaughter, Ikela
Gilham, of Kent.
Wayne was cremated and
will rest in the Tahoma National
Cemetery, in Maple Valley, WA
No funeral service was held
as Wayne hated funerals and was
adamant about not having one.
