Kokomo Saturday Tribune, February 1, 1879:
On Tuesday morning, Thomas Gilbert Calhoun died of pneumonia at age 21 years, 7 months, and 5 days. Gil was grandson of the late David Foster and the second son of Thomas Calhoun, deceased. He was a young man of find physique and always stout and hearty. His disease weas contracted while skating in which sport he could not be excelled. For several years, he has been a member of the Kokomo baseball club. The funeral occurred on Wednesday from the residence of Garah Markland, the services were conducted by Father Rayburn, and the interment occurred in Crown Point Cemetery.
