Russell A. Aldridge, 87, Kokomo, died 4:04 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2006, at Howard Regional Health System. He was born March 31, 1919, in Ashland, Kan., to John and Zola (Claypool) Aldridge. He went on to marry Leona E. (Strayer) Sturgeon Aldridge on Aug. 24, 1952. She preceded him in death June 23, 1986.

He was a veteran of the Army Medical Corps, having served during WW II. During that time, he received a Purple Heart, Bronze Star, American Defense Ribbon and Medical Badge. He worked for Globe American, and later worked for the Chrysler Corp. Casting Plant for 25 years.

He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post 1152, Kokomo and was a member of the American Legion, Scott-Lamber Post 415, Galveston. He enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also loved his dog Maddie.

Surviving are his companion and best friend, Elsie Loy, Kokomo; son, Robert Aldridge and wife Cherri, Kentucky; daughter, Melissa Kelly, Kokomo; grandchildren, Kortney, Kayla and Kelsie Taylor, Christopher Aldridge, Kokomo; stepchildren, Emily Davis, Greentown, Daniel Sturgeon, Greentown, and Beverly Johns, Kokomo; great-grandson,
Alexander Aldridge; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and stepdaughter, Ramona McCartney Mann.
