McBRIDE, Leland Richard 76, a resident of Palmdale for 72 years, passed away Dec. 11, 2009, in Tulsa, Oklahoma after a lengthy illness, with his family by his side.He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years, Bobbie Jean McBride, also a life long resident of Palmdale.He is survived by his wife, Bobbie Louise McBride of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. He is survived by his eldest brother Straud McBride Jr., and by his children: Scott McBride, Vicki Hall, Shawn Rush, Shelly Papworth, and step-children: Rick Plummer and Rob Plummer.He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and13 great-grandchildren.Mr. McBride was the proud grandfather of Sgt. Travis Leland McBride, currently serving in the U.S.M.C. Mr. McBridewas a graduate of AV High School and AV College in Lancaster California. He joined the U.S.A.F. in 1953, at Lackland A.F.B. in Texas and finished serving at Wimpole Park A.F.B.in Cambridge England in 1957. "Lee" is remembered most fondlyas owner of the finest men's clothing store in the Antelope Valley, The Master's Shop. He was also an agentwith Farmer's Insurance Group before retiring in 1995.He was a masonwith Palmdale Masonic Lodge #769, and amember of Lancaster Elks Lodge BPOE #1625. As an avid golfer he was a member of the Antelope Valley Country Club for over 40 years. His children and grandchildren remember him most for the way he enjoyed caring for his beautiful gardens. Memorial services were held on Saturday Dec. 12, 2009, in Broken Arrow Oklahoma.Graveside services are being arranged by Chapel of the Valley Mortuary for 12 p.m., Friday, Dec. 18, 2009, at Desert Lawn Memorial Park in Palmdale and is open to friends of the family.
